America's Boating Club (ABC) of the Catawba is a non-profit organization, 5013C, and a unit within District 27 of the United States Power Squadrons | America’s Boating Club. We are the nation’s premiere boating club with 450 Squadrons and 45,000 members. Chartered in 1964, our local organization is dedicated to educating the public on safe boating practices, teaching advanced and elective courses for members, raising awareness of water safety issues, and offering free vessel safety checks. We serve York, Chester and Lancaster counties in South Carolina, and areas of North Carolina adjacent to Lake Wylie.

Civic Service is a major focus of our Club.  For over 60-years we have held Children's Outings for underserved children.  Our children are sponsored by local Welfare Agencies and Title 1 Schools.  Typically, we host 3-events for 700+ Children and their families. We partner with the Charlotte Squadron to have fun and support our communities. Our Squadrons get together at the Children's Outings, ski show raft-ups, BBQs, and our annual predictive log.  

 

Many people get confused, what is our name?  Since 1914 we have been known as the United States Power Squadron. Today we have rebranded and our moniker is America's Boating Club, or you can refer to us simply as Catawba, or ABC. The legal name of our Club is "Catawba Sail and Power Squadron" but we now refer as ourselves as "America's Boating Club of the Catawba". Whatever you call us, we're here to help our community, the environment and members.
